Dr Souha Kanj trained in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases at Duke University Medical Center, USA. She received the American Board of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She was a Howard Hughes research associate. In 1998, Dr Kanj joined The American University of Beirut Medical Center, Lebanon as Assistant Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2007. She has served as the Head of the Division of ID since 2002 and Chairperson of the Infection Control Program since 2005.

She served on the Education Committee for ESCMID. In 2016 she was appointed as a member of the Scientific Affairs Subcommittee of ESCMID. In 2014, she received the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research award.

In 2016 she was appointed as a member of the WHO Global Infection Prevention and Control Network (GICPN). Dr Kanj is a fellow of the following organizations: ACP, IDSA, RCP and ESCMID. Dr Kanj has more than 140 scientific peer-reviewed publications.
