Martin Haluzík is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Experimental Medicine and Head of the Metabolic Research Group in the Centre for Experimental Medicine and the Diabetes Centre of the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague. He is also a Professor of Internal Medicine in the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
Dr Haluzík’s main areas of clinical expertise include diabetology, obesitology and general internal medicine. The major focus of his research concerns the aetiopathogenesis of obesity, insulin resistance, and type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Dr Haluzík has a special interests in the endocrine function of adipose tissue, the incretin system, novel hormonal factors involved in the regulation of energy homeostasis and glucose metabolism, and the use of novel technologies and therapeutics in the treatment of diabetes. treatment of diabetes.
