New Zealand

After graduating in Medicine at Auckland University, New Zealand.
I moved to Vancouver where I specialized in both Internal Medicine and in Diagnostic Radiology. My Fellowships in Body Imaging were at both Duke and Stanford Universities.
I was on Faculty at Stanford for 5 years with research interests in Thoracic CT and NIH funded MRI and then moved to UCSD where I was appointed Professor in 1998.
Returning to New Zealand broadened my Body imaging horizons to include more Abdominal CT, Ultrasound and Women’s imaging.
In our busy tertiary referral hospital, Radiology and Obs/Gyne work well together with shared goals in minimizing risk to pregnant women and women of child-bearing age.
My interests in both women’s imaging and Emergency Department Radiology have fostered shared surgical research into optimizing the investigation and management of patients presenting with abdominal and pelvic pain. Time in ED and radiation sensitive goals place responsibility on the radiologist to provide the most efficient investigation with the least radiation exposure, particularly in patients of child-bearing age.
